A little Insta-gallery

So, yeah, I have been away for over a month! Almost two months really. I have been so busy with this semester, like, I can't even. I literally work everyday and go to school. I have been in the middle of updating the layout of my blog for about a week now. So if you have any suggestions please let me know.
Until I make a legit post here are my latest instagram photos....

DIY Wonder Woman Halloween Costume

This past Halloween I took on Wonder Woman! It was by far my favorite costume I have ever worn! It was so comfy and I didn't have to worry about not being able to dance the night away.

 All this costume took was a quick trip to Michaels Craft Store and some time. I did procrastinate for Halloween which I think everyone does.

Materials Purchased:
Michaels Craft Store:
1 1/2 yards of Red Satin
1 yard of White and Blue Satin
{these were also on sale}
White Thread
Ribbon
White Felt
Dick's Sporting Good's:
Blue Volleyball spandex
Hot Topic:
Wonder Woman Corset w/ Accessories

 The next step was to sew my cape. I used a sewing machine, but you could do it by hand if you had enough time. I didn't use a pattern I kind of just winged it and it turned out fine. Especially for something that you are most likely only going to wear one time. I do suggest that if you are going to comicon or somewhere that you make a paper pattern.
I first layed my red satin out and cut a semi circle out of it.

{It should look something like this}
After my red semi circle was cut out I cut a smaller semi cirlce out of the flat side for a neck hole.
I then took my blue and white satin and cut it into half of a semi circle.
{it should look like the blue piece here}
I made my sections smaller so I could have more detail.
I then started with the red piece and sewed my first blue piece onto it. Make sure that your nice side is facing eachother. This is to ensure that the nice side will show when you wear your cape. After you sew your first shapes together you need to proceed and sew the rest together.
After my cape was all pieced together I sewed a "flap" to thread my ribbon through the neck line.
Once I finished sewing my cape and threading my ribbon I cut out stars out of white felt. I then tacked these stars on. I also used theses felt stars on my shorts. I purchased my blue shorts from Dick's Sporting Goods. I believe they are Volleyball Spandex.
After all of my stars were tacked on I added plastic jewels in the center. You do not have to do this, but I love bling!

My corset was purchased from Hot Topic! It also came with my arm cuffs and headband.
What were you for Halloween?

Tutorial: How to Post a Link in a Comment

Do you ever see some people commenting on blogger post and instead of typing their whole url they post an actual link to their page?

In my opinion this is a lot nicer than posting the whole url. It makes it easier for other people to access your website and it looks more professional.

All you have to do is find the post you want to comment on and proceed like you normally would..

Then the next step is to type your comment as you normally and would and past this code into the comment box wherever you want it.

I hope that helped! Feel free to comment. What other tutorials would you like to see?

Weekend Shenanigans!

Sami's Shenanigans
This is my first time linking up! Yay, anyways, back to the weekend of shenanigans....

Saturday: I spent the day shopping for Dustin's birthday and our anniversary.
I bought him a police shirt and Florida Gator gear. I also went to Caufield's which is a really cool halloween store. It also has other party supplies, but it is mainly Halloween gear! That night Dustin, my friend Erin and I went to Fear Fair. If you have never been to this haunted attraction in Southern Indiana, I highly recommend it! It's so worth it!
 {pictured below}

Sunday: Sunday I surprised my great grandma with KFC. Classy, right? but she loved it. Most of my day was spent on the farm walking through the woods. Afterwards, I went and spent my 5 year anniversary with Dustin. I am so lucky to have him!

OOTD: Polished Jungle

Boyfriend Blazer: via Gordmans $14.99 {similar} //  Tank: B. Jewel via TjMaxx $12.99 // Scarf: Kohls $11.99 on sale! // Girl Mia $55

Lately, while shopping, I have been searching for pieces that I can blend with more casual outfits while still being able to wear them dressy. I love this army green shift dress/tank top. I am not really sure what this is. I found it at TJMaxx on the clearnace rack. I knew I had to have it. 1 I am obsessed with this color for fall and 2 it fits my casualy dressy look. I paired this tank with leggings boots and a blazer for a more sophisticated look. Normally I do not dress up this much for class, but I had a meeting at school today. What do you guys think about this outfit?

OOTD: Campus Comfy

Indiana Sweatshirt via Target $30 // Jeggings {On Sale} via American Eagle $30  // Girl Mia Boots via Gordman's $55{similar}  // Sunnies via Target {similar} // Backpack: Coach
 Nails: Black Matte
I have found almost identical sunglasses at tjmaxx. Apparently mine are knock off's of Jessica Simpson.

Today's look is all about being comfy. Everyone has those days where they just want to throw on a comfortable sweatshirt and go to class. Well I have those days a lot. I am not gonna lie. ha! Very rarely do you see a fashion blogger confess this. Most of the time they are wearing heels and mini skirts. This is not practical for us "normal" people. I don't know about you, but what I post as my OOTD's is actually what I am wearing that day.

 What do you guys think? Do you believe that fashion bloggers wear heels everyday or are they just dressing up for the camera?

Fall Wish List: Colorful Skinny Jeans

COLORED SKINNY JEANS! Yeah, I know I am so behind on this trend. So far I have only "regular" blue jeans. Boot cut, straight leg or skinny jeans I have them all minus the fact that they aren't in fun colors. Wah. So this fall I have made it my mission to gain colored skinny jeans. Preferably skinny jeans so I can tuck them into boots. Here are just a few colors that are at the top of my list to purchase this fall. What do you guys think?

 Do you have colored skinny jeans? What colors are your must haves?

10 Things my family accidentally taught me

I hope everyone had a good start to their October! So far I have been to 2 haunted houses this month and can't wait for more! Pictured below are some of my best friends.It was raining and gross, but we ended up having a good time.We told Dustin we were making a scary face lol.

 Here are ten things that my family accidentally taught me...
10.Grandma's can do it all! Am I right? I have yet to find one thing that my grandma isn't good at. Well besides drinking, but that's another post. ;)
9. You will never be more heartbroken than when your little sibling gets theirs broken.
8. Don't cry; just try. Yes, this is one from my good ole' dad. Anytime I started to get frustrated with something he was always there to add "don't cry; just try", which at the time was very annoying. (learning fractions for the first time. Am I right?) Now it is just something that I can say to my students when they are struggling with something. Thanks, Dad.
7. Horizontal Stripes are a no go. Yes, grandmas are full of knowledge, but this is a fashion emergency! Unless you are stick thin, horizontal stripes are most likely going to make you look wider than you need to be.
6. The fish bite the best at 5am or earlier. Don't believe me ask my dad because I too have yet to catch a fish this early.
5. You can make something out of anything. Be creative! Don't worry about not having the specific items! Improvise!
4. Baseball is boring. There I said it. Sorry, baseball fans.
3. Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty. Self explanatory.
2. You are not supposed to put ketchup on steak. EVER.
1. You can't love someone out of being a Kentucky fan. Sorry, guys.

Well their you have it! 10 things my family accidentally taught me. What are some things that your family has accidentally taught you?

Fall Wish List: Fringe Booties

First Series: Fall Wish List Fringe Booties! Okay so I will admit at first I was sooooo against booties, but now I am feelin em'. Let me explain myself. First off, I have long legs, long arms and a long torso. For some weird reason I thought that I couldn't wear booties because I am so long and the booties are so short. Ugh I don't know, whatevs. ha! Anyways back to the booties! These are just a few of the styles that I am loving! What do you guys think?

These are on sale and I am SERIOUSLY thinking about picking up a pair in the color Mocha.
Now these are similar to the first booties, but I like these because they are not so "cowboy" looking in the toe.

Jessica Simpson knows her shoes! These could be dressed up or down. Plus the fringe is in the back. Something different?

I LOVE these!

This is more of a subtle look and I am digging it!
